Use the intended attachment
Read the carrying instructions for the poles and the vest or belt. Check that the attachment is intended for the folded size and that the poles can be retained without improvised loose loops. Different systems place them horizontally, vertically or diagonally; the important question is how your combination behaves, not which arrangement looks familiar.
Fold the poles according to their instructions and keep the sections together. Inspect the locking parts and any retaining strap before placing them in the carrier. Do not force a partly folded pole into a pocket and hope running will settle it. If the bundle cannot be secured with the available attachment, choose a compatible arrangement before going out.
Look for movement and projecting parts
Walk, jog and turn in a safe space. Notice whether the bundle bounces, rotates or touches your arms. Look behind and beside you to understand how far it projects. Pay attention to tips and loose straps, especially at the height of another person or an animal. Use protective covers where the manufacturer specifies them and where they suit the carrying arrangement.
Try reaching the jacket and other essentials with the poles stored. A carrying position that blocks the only useful pocket may force an awkward unpacking later. Check the straps again after removing another item, since pulling on a neighbouring pocket can loosen a bundle that seemed secure at first.
Check the poles with the jacket added
Repeat the carrying test after putting on the layer you expect to use when the weather changes. A jacket can cover an attachment point, push a bundle outward or leave a cord trapped beneath the poles. Check the actual sequence: stop, remove the poles if necessary, put on the layer and secure everything again. Do not assume that a good arrangement over a shirt remains unchanged over every outer layer.
If using a quiver or another detachable carrier, check its attachment to the vest as well as the poles inside it. A secure bundle in a poorly attached carrier still has a weak connection. Read the compatibility and fitting instructions for both products. After a short local trial, look for rubbing or a fastening that has migrated from its original position. Resolve that interaction before taking the same arrangement onto a crowded event route or a path where passing room is limited.
Put them away at a proper stop
Choose a broad place to fold and store poles. Keep the tips under control and leave passing users enough room. Avoid swinging the bundle behind you while concentrating on a fastening you cannot see. If the system is difficult to use with the vest on, take it off in a suitable place rather than improvising while moving.
Repeat the process with the clothing and gloves you expect to wear. If a retaining cord repeatedly escapes or requires excessive force, resolve that before the route. After the outing, clean and inspect the equipment as directed and check for wear around the attachment. A secure storage system should remain understandable when the poles are muddy and your attention is divided, not only when everything is laid out neatly at home.
